CANYON OF RIVER VRATNA

River Vratna canyon is interesting because of its three gates. Gates are, actually, arches and they represent a real attraction of Negotin region. This is one of the most beautiful and attractive canyons in Serbia. You must drive into direction of town of Negotin. Near the main road lies a beautiful monastery of Bukovo.

Main road Negotin-Kladovo will take you to the canyon. After the bridge, turn left; the road leads through the villages of Slatina and Urovica. There is a signpost, to the monastery of Vratna. Distance between monastery Vratna and Negotin is 30 km. The marked trail starts from the monastery, in the forest.

The first two gates are just behind the monastery. You can reach them in 10 minutes of walk. 

The third gate is located 3 km from the monastery. Hike to this gate is a real adventure! You will walk by the shore of the river Vratna and you will pass the river many times. At one spot, you will climb the rock! After 1,5 km, you will enter into the dry riverbed. The trail is marked and very attractive.

Finally, after more than 2 hours of hiking, you will reach the third gate.

On your way back, you can climb to the top of the second gate. A view is really worth an effort.

It is amazing that river Vratna, only 30 km long, is the owner of such beauty!
