SARA MOUNTAIN (Titov vrh 2747 m)

Area of mountain Sara covers three states, Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. The highest peak, Titos Peak ( 2747 m ), is in Macedonia and it is located near Tetovo. This mountain includes a really huge area. It looks like Sara will grab you and swallow you, while you climb its slopes! At least I had that impression, which caused an awe in me for this beautiful mountain.

Trail to Titos Peak starts from tourist place Popova Sapka, which is located at 1620 meters above sea level. We went by quite demanding path, which included climbing of several peaks. This strenuous tour lasts about 6 hours in one direction and goes over peaks Ceripasina (2540 m) and Bakrdan (2704 m). Return to Popova Sapka is by the path that bypasses all these peaks and lasts about 3 hours. This track is also a path to the top, but then you will be deprived for amazing viewpoints. This easier path is well marked. There are a little flags that directs you to the right path.

Distance between Belgrade and Popova Sapka is anout 6 hours of drive (468 km), via Nis, Skopje and Tetovo. Distance between Tetovo and Popova Sapka is 18 km.

Mountain Sara is a real delicacy for mountaineers! Beside lots of interesting peaks, this beauty has beautiful pastures and numerous creeks and streams. And small lakes too. So, something for everyone! Although harsh and terrible, Sara fascinates with its wild beauty and it is impossible not to fall in love with her at first sight!
